Valve Banning CS:GO Gambling and Betting sites
Posted by: Julian - 08-20-2016, 05:54 PM - Forum: Gaming and Technology News - No Replies

This isn't very recent news, but I still wanted to leave some thoughts on the matter.

It started when an individual sued Valve for not doing anything about the illegal gambling with skins.
No one really thoughts it would start anything major, but before you knew it gambling sites were being shut down, ruining many people who were either profiting by owning a gambling site, or by gambling on YouTube.

I am in favor of banning gambling, as this has turned Counter-Strike into something it is not.
But when Valve banned team betting, they went too far.
Not only are they putting an end to what many people would consider their hobby, they are also ruining themselves. By banning team betting sites such as CSGOLounge, they've effectively destroyed at least 50% of their viewership. The numbers have already started to decline, and it doesn't look like it is going to end anytime soon.
This indirectly affects the professional teams as well. By having the viewership for tournaments decline, the tournaments aren't able to support larger prize pools.

Thoughts?

Persona 5 Coming Out in Summer 2016
Posted by: ProNine - 02-25-2016, 03:02 PM - Forum: Gaming and Technology News - No Replies

To all the fans of the SMT and the Persona series, you all probably know that the Persona 5 game will be coming out in June of 2016 in Japan and later on in the U.S. According to the teaser website and peak views of the game, it is set in modern day Japan. The theme of this game will be about the adolescents in the game trying to break free from the rules and chains set by society. Personally, I'm really looking forward to it because of the game art. What about you? What are you excited about in this game?
